Welcome to Cougar Town: prime time catches up with cougar dating

By Oliver1 | September 15th, 2009

Ladies, have you ever been caught fantasising out loud about a hot young man…by his mother?  That’s what  happens to Jules Cobb, a 40-something divorcee in the brand new comedy series ‘Cougar Town’ being screened on ABC later this September.

Back on the dating scene for the first time in years Jules, played by super sexy Courtney Cox discovers that men her age are either ‘broken, gay or chasing younger girls’.  So, she thinks, what’s left? Attractive younger men of course!

Jules wants to lick one particular young man all over. That is until his mother, sitting just below her  at a sports game, overhears. This is just one scene in what promises to be a hilarious new show about the dating life of older women. And here at Cougared.com we think Cougar Town is going to be a hit, not to mention something of a visual feast of gorgeous older women and younger men.

Cox is the best known of the cast but I’m sure we’ll come to know and love the other actors just as much as the show progresses. Also starring are Brian van Holt as Bobby, Jules unemployed ex-husband; their eternally embarrassed son Travis is played by Dan Byrd, their friends and neighbours Andy and Ellie Toris are played by Ian Gomez and Christa Miller, new single neighbour Josh Hopkins is played by handsome hunk Grayson Ellis (Private Practise, CSI Miami) and Jules’ assistant at her real estate business and single galpal Laurie Keller is played by Busy Philipps.

Cougar Town promises ‘crazy parties, hot boyfriends and free limo rides’ but with side effects including ‘embarrassing photos, late night food comas, and all day hangovers’. Sounds like fun to us.

There is a downside to this new show of course: everyone will see how much fun the cougar dating scene is and want in on it, leading to more competition for sassy older women and hunky young guys on websites like ours. On second thoughts we think that might just be an upside!

For a sneak preview of the show go to ABC.com and check it out for yourself, spread the word and mark 23 September in your diaries.
